Day 1 :
Arrive in Verdun at the end of the morning.
Lunch.
Afternoon: a guided tour of the battlefields
visit to the Verdun Memorial,
the Fort Vaux or Douaumont,
Douaumont Ossuary and the Bayonets Trench.
Dinner and evening.
Day 2 :
Morning: guided tour of the town of Verdun,
visit the Princerie Museum or the Dragées Braquier (sugared almonds) factory.
Aboard a small train discover the lives of the French soldiers who inhabited the galleries of the Underground Citadel.
Lunch.
Afternoon: a tour of the Ligne Maginot, a guided tour of the Fort Fermont, Ligne Maginot museum (see displays of important documents, equipment and artifacts from the Second World War). Visit 3 km of galleries in an electric train.
Dinner and evening.
Day 3 :
Morning: guided tour of the Rive Gauche battefields, the place where German troops intervened.
Visit the 304 valley,
Mort Homme
and the largest American cemetary in Europe at Romagne sous Montfaucon, where the bodies of 15 000 soldiers lie.
A traditional rustic lunch in a farm inn.
Afternoon: a guided tour of the Argonnne country
visit the attractive village of Beaulieu, famous for it's flowers and typical timbered style houses.
See the chapel and retreat of St-Rouin,
a craft factory which produces pottery and faience and wood turning demonstrations.
Return to Verdun around 6:30.
